The driver of a 1995-2000 model year Gold Honda Civic who is suspected of causing a motor vehicle crash on November 13 that killed five people in El Centro is still being sought by law enforcement. A CNN article reports that the driver of the Honda veered head on into oncoming traffic on a two-lane highway when passing a group of twelve motorcycles, causing a Dodge Avenger to swerve to avoid the Honda and crash into the motorcycles in the opposing lane. The driver of the Honda fled the scene of the accident, which occurred just east of San Diego.
According to the article, a passenger in the Dodge vehicle and four motorcyclists died at the scene of the collision. A spokeswoman for the California Highway Patrol stated that five of the six individuals injured were in serious condition. The motorcyclists involved in the highway accident are members of the Saddle Tramps Motorcycle group in Lakeside, California and were riding in honor of the group’s ten-year anniversary.
Multiple-vehicle collisions are complex and become more complicated when a hit-and-run driver is involved. When motorists and passengers are seriously injured or killed, it is important for negligent parties to be held accountable. Compensation may be obtained for accident victims and family members for lost wages, medical expenses, pain and suffering, loss of companionship, and more.
