Frozen Chicken and Steak fajitas Recalled Due to Misbranding

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on November 4, 2011

According to different news sources, the Colorado based Phil’s Fresh Foods Inc. has issued a recall for over 15,000 pounds of steak fajita and frozen chicken due to a problem with the labeling of the products. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service was responsible for the statement. The products being recalled include  ‘Evol. Burritos Fire Grilled Chicken Fajita’, and ‘Evol. Burriots Fire Grilled Steak Fajita.’

The company has confirmed that because some of the chicken fajita packages may contain some steak, the recall issued was made necessary. The same happened with the steak packages and some might contain chicken. Those who are allergic to either type of meat could have a serious health issue by inadvertently consuming it.

The mistake was made public after an alleged consumer reported an allergic reaction related to the fajitas, which lead to the company running some tests and discovering what was the problem with the product.

As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer I urge you to be alert when purchasing food products. Check the label and check the ingredients before you actually ingest anything. If you have purchased any of these products don’t hesitate in contacting the company for instructions on how to solve this problem. For any product liability issue, contact a product liability lawyer to help you with your case.

Over 22,000 Pounds of Meat Recalled Due to Undeclared Allergen

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on October 26, 2011

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced a recall for Carne Guisada due to an undeclared allergen, according to recent news sources.

About 22,100 pounds of meat are affected by this recall. The manufacturer is Supreme Meat Purveyors, based in San Antonio, Texas. The product was discovered by the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service during a routine survey of the products. The allergen is soy.

Two and five pound bags are being recalled, with case codes of either 600100, 71087/506004, or 500233. The “beef base” listed under the ingredients was proven to contain soy. Those who have sensitivities to that product could get sick from consuming it.

No reports of illness have been made to the company of the Food Safety and Inspection Service. The products were sent to both Louisiana and Texas.

As a Los Angeles personal injury attorney, I have seen food recalls like this one and know that, with as much testing goes into food products before manufacturers send them to market, mistakes can still be made. Although the product liability lawyer at our law firm does not handle these type of cases there are food recall lawyers out there that can help your or a loved one if you have been affected by a recall such as this one.

Misbranding of Chicken and Steak Products Causes Recall

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on October 13, 2011

A Colorado company is conducting a recall of their chicken and steak products due to misbranding, according to recent news sources.

The United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced that the frozen chicken fajita products may contain steak, and the steak products may contain chicken. Both are made by Phil’s Fresh Foods, Inc.

The following products are affected by the recall:

  • 7-oz. cartons of “EVOL. BURRITOS FIRE GRILLED CHICKEN FAJITA.”
  • 7-oz. cartons of “EVOL. BURRITOS FIRE GRILLED STEAK FAJITA.”

The products are imprinted with “EST. 21015” or “P-21015” and have a lot number of “03311”.

The company was made aware of the misbranding when someone with a beef allergy consumed the chicken product and had an allergic reaction and notified them.

As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, I know that there many rules and regulations that most food and product manufacturers must abide by. Even so, mistakes can and will be made. The product liability lawyer at our law firm hopes that you or your loved ones will not be affected by the recalled chicken and steak products. If you or anyone you know has been affected by food-borne illness we encourage them to seek medical attention right away so that things do not get any worse.

Lower Your Child’s Exposure to Allergens

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on September 29, 2011

Now that school has started again, many children will experience colds throughout the year, as their exposure to germs has significantly increased. However, when a cold seems like it won’t go away, the culprit may be allergy-related.

According to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, up to 40% of children experience allergies. In order to help your child cope with the condition, you can help them avoid the trigger.

If your child has seasonal allergies, track pollen count and keep them inside when the level is high if possible.

  • In the late summer and early fall, during ragweed pollen season, pollen levels are highest in the morning.
  • In the spring and summer, during the grass pollen season, pollen levels are highest in the evening.
  • Some molds, another allergy trigger, may also be seasonal. For example, leaf mold is more common in the fall.
  • Sunny, windy days can be especially troublesome for pollen allergy sufferers.

It will help to keep your windows closed and the air conditioner running in the car and house.

If your child has severe allergies that cannot be controlled by over the counter medication, it’s best to see a specialist. Make sure that you read the label of any medicine you give your child to make sure the medicine is age appropriate.

As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, child safety and health is very important to me. I hope that these tips will help your family. As a  product liability lawyer, I hope that any medication you give your child is regulated and age appropriate.

Protein Supplements Recalled Due to Undeclared Allergen

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on September 26, 2011

Prolab Nutrition Inc. is issuing a recall for several of their protein supplement products due to an undeclared allergen, according to recent news sources.

The products may contain wheat or gluten and people with sensitivities to Brazil nuts, cashews, chestnuts, eggs, hazelnuts, peanuts, pecans, pine nuts, tree nuts, sulfites and walnuts, or gluten allergens may be in serious danger of a life-threatening reaction if they ingest the products.

The products affected are the two and five pound containers of Advanced Pure Whey Protein, Pure Why, and Whey Isolate Protein in wild strawberry, milk chocolate, and vanilla crème flavors. The products have been sold in 34 states in the U.S., including California. They were also sold in Malaysia, Russia, Australia and Canada.

If you have purchased this product, you can return it to your store of purchase for a full refund.

As a product defect lawyer, consumer health is something that I am very conscious of and I know that even with tough rules and regulations on manufacturers mistakes can still be made. I encourage anyone who is experiencing an allergic reaction to seek immediate medical attention. The Los Angeles personal injury attorney at our law firm sincerely hopes that no one has been sickened by consuming the recalled protein supplement.
