According to news sources, a collaborative bicycle safety effort spearheaded by The Davis Police Department hopes to increase safety awareness while stepping up enforcement of traffic laws.
The project will begin January 9, 2012 with an increased focus on traffic law enforcement in area frequented by bicyclists in order to ensure that traffic laws such as riding at night with a light and stopping at stop signs are followed. In the past year about 54 collisions involving bicyclists took place in Davis, with over 90 percent of those cases resulting in injuries sustained by bicyclists. The program’s goal is to educate bicyclists and motorists on the lawful practices of sharing the road.
Bicyclists who are issued citations for violating traffic laws such as traveling without a light at night can reportedly take those citations to participating bike stores and receive 10 percent off new bike lights.
As a personal injury attorney Los Angeles, I deeply appreciate ongoing efforts to ensure that our roads are safer for all who travel on them. For your safety as well as the safety of others, make sure you are familiar with traffic laws and bicycle safety practices. As a car accident attorney Los Angeles, I hope that the conclusions of this endeavor will lead to safer roads and safer driving habits amongst motorists and bicyclists alike.
Various news sources have stated that the city of Los Angeles has opened a six-foot-wide emerald green lane entirely dedicated to bikes in downtown. This lane was allegedly open to the public last Monday.
According to the different news articles, the creation of this bike lane is part of a $3.2 million taken from transportation sales tax revenue that is entirely dedicated to bicycle safety improvements.
The reports show that contractor workers spent the whole weekend transforming the 1-1/2 mile lane into a bike-only belt on Spring Street. The mayor has stated that even though Los Angeles was built with cars in mind, bicycles also belong to the streets of the city. Bicycle safety is a major priority for all personal injury lawyers, we hope to see more of these projects being created all over the city.
News sources also state that the city plans to install a very similar bike lane on Main Street as well. Signs are being posted all over the city to remind motorists that bikers share the traffic lanes.
Personal injury lawyers are sadly very familiar with the many accidents related to vehicles and bicycles not being able to share the road.
As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, I believe that this is a great initiative from the city to bring more confidence to bicycle riders from all over the town.
According to news sources, there’s a bicycle bash scheduled for November 6th in Tampa Bay, Florida, to promote awareness, safety and bring drivers and riders together so all may learn to share the road.
The event, promoted by a local alliance of 12 different Tampa Bay bicycle stores, aims to educate teenagers and adults regarding bicycling with safety and responsibility in the State of Florida.
Bicycling has become a hot topic for residents in the State since the activities have increased in the region in the past five years. Alleged concerns over bike-related accidents have also increased, proving that this is the perfect time for this type of event.
As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer I would love to see more of these initiatives Nationwide. Bicycle safety is a major priority since distracted people sharing the road may threaten drivers and bikers. The prevention of accidents begins with the proper education. Safety and road sharing qualities must be learned by all.
Accidents with bikes are more common than you think so if you ever find yourself involved in a similar accident, contact a personal injury lawyer right away. The faster you contact them, the easier it is for a lawyer to help you.
