According to news sources, the city of Burbank will now be able to offer bicycle safety classes every month in partnership with the nonprofit Sustainable Streets, after the City Council agreed to offer it a $100,000 state grant for that purpose.
The city began to pursue bicycle safety more aggressively through its Bicycle Master Plan, which was set up in 2009 with the stated goal of encouraging bicycle usage as well as increasing traffic safety. At the time of the plans inception back in 2009, about 49 percent of respondents to a city survey claimed that concerns regarding safety kept them from using bicycles to get around the city.
The new classes being offered will be taught by licensed expert instructors through the nonprofit Sustainable Streets, with the first classes beginning February 18, 2012.
Bicyclists will be taught the best traffic safety practices to follow while on the roadway.
As a personal injury lawyer Los Angeles, I appreciate all efforts made to ensure higher safety standards to protect motorists and pedestrians. The objectives of this new safety campaign is hopefully a step in the right direction. As a car accident attorney Los Angeles, I hope that supplying this information will assist those wanting to find newer and better ways to stay safe.
Various news sources have announced that the UA-area study is looking forward to make the campus and the entire surrounding region safer for pedestrians and bicyclists alike.
The necessity for a safer environment is the response to a recent accident involving a bicyclist who happened to be a student being struck by a vehicle. The UA along with the Pima Association of Governments are funding a study that will collect data regarding cyclists, pedestrians and the risks to their safety. The study is called UA Area Bicycle and Pedestrian Study.
During the time the study is underway, bike counts, surveys, pedestrian traffic data etc, will be gathered so collisions will be prevented and the infrastructure of the roads will be ameliorated for an overall safer experience.
Safety is a priority for the community when it comes to bikers and pedestrians sharing the road with vehicles. The study is allegedly trying to come up with answers to safety questions that do not seem to ever get answered.
I, a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer hope that more studies can furnish the solutions for safer roads in the future. Personal injury lawyers can be greatly helpful when it comes to road safety.
For any doubts regarding an injury case related to this problem, contact a personal injury lawyer in your area and clear any doubts away.
According to a letter from the commissioner from the Departments of Transportation, the issue related to the lack of regard from motorists and riders toward pedestrians and bicycle riders is a sad reality.
He states that improved sidewalks, well maintained and better marked crosswalks, improved intersections with sharper signals, accessible space to the mobility impaired etc, will make the difference in the fight against the staggering number of accidents related to vehicle versus pedestrians and bikers.
The report from the commissioner also revealed that last year in New Jersey alone, 13 bicyclists and 141 pedestrians have been struck and allegedly killed by cars or trucks on various New Jersey roads. An even sadder number if we consider the fact that five out of these 112 fatalities were under the age of 18.
Adopting local initiatives to eradicate this elevated number of accidents is a noble act but it must be focused on education.
As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, I urge all drivers to learn about road safety and what you can do to make your community a safer place for bicyclists and pedestrians.
In the case you find yourself fighting in a bicycle versus accident, remember to have a professional personal injury lawyer assisting you with your case.
