According to news sources, a recall has been issued for about 43,700 units of Big Lot floor lamps due to an electrical shock hazard arising from a potentially exposed wiring of the lamp’s light socket.
The company, Big Lots, announced the voluntary recall in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), after it was found that some of the lamps wiring can become exposed and thus post a shock hazard to consumers. Another defect in the recalled product involves the lamps generating excessive heat under the standard recommended settings, causing the plastic shades over the light bulbs to potentially melt.
