children toy recall

Big Movers Toy Truck Recalled Over Potential Fire Hazard

I have word of yet another recall leading into the weekend.

This particular recall was announced by Happy Shirts, a Honolulu-based company.  That company has a line of t-shirts that were sold at Kohl’s, but it’s not the shirt that poses a safety risk.  The safety hazard actually comes from a toy truck gift that was given away with the purchase of a shirt, and it’s that gift that is being recalled.

The toys are specifically called Big Movers Super Car toy trucks.  They are blue, four inches long, and they were handed out to consumers who purchased Big Movers boys navy t-shirts from Kohl’s stores and on the web.

The issue comes into play when users put a battery into the truck.  The battery compartment connections have a propensity to smolder, creating the risk of a fire and burn hazard.  Users have been advised to take the toy away from children and take the battery away from the toy.  Happy Shirts is standing by to receive word from customers, who can call to receive refund instructions.

9,000 units are affected, and already four reports have arisen of the aforementioned hazard, one that involved a full-on fire.  Thankfully, no injuries have yet occurred.

As a Ventura personal injury lawyer, I think that all safety defects are tragic, but those that affect children are especially so.  I hope as a San Jose personal injury attorney that no one gets burned by this defect.

Recalled Items Sold By Meijer Shipped to Other Outlets

When a product gets recalled, most people probably think that the danger is over and done.  As you’ll soon discover, though, just because a product has been recalled doesn’t mean it won’t make its way to other shelves.

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a warning to consumers that an error has resulted in the continued sale of products originally sold at Meijer Inc.  These products, which were recalled for a variety of safety reasons, did not get disposed of properly.  Instead, they were given to thrift stores, discount retail outlets, flea markets, and dollar stores to be sold for a deep discount.

The warning covers Innovage Discovery Kids Animated Lamps, Infantino Baby Slings, Hoover Windtunnel Bagless Vacuums, Fisher Price Ocean Wonders Aquariums, FP Little People Stand and Play Rampways, FP Barbie and Kawasaki Tough Trikes, Munchkin Bathtub Subs, and Sassy Refreshing Rings Infant Teethers.

Each of the recalled products listed above entails its own recall procedures, and consumers worried that they might be in possession of the items in question should head over to the CPSC’s website to learn more information.  All products should have their usage discontinued at once.

As a Bakersfield personal injury lawyer, I hate to see safety defects in products, but I think I’m more disheartened by the fact these items still made their way onto store shelves.  This is simply unacceptable to a personal injury lawyer in San Bernardino like myself.

Triple Eight Recalls Bicycle Helmets Due To Head Injury Risks

According to news sources, a recall has been issued for about 30,400 units of Triple Eight Distribution bicycle helmets for children after it was found that they did not comply with existing impact resistance standards placed by The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The company, Triple Eight Distribution Inc., announced the recall after product testing showed that the helmets did not comply with CPSC safety standards regarding impact resistance for such helmets. The recalled helmet models are the Sector 9, in both small and medium sizes, as well as the EPS Liner helmets.
