Arctic Cat Recalls Nearly 20,000 Snowmobiles

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on January 31, 2012

It’s not just automobiles that get recalled.  As you’ll soon see, recalls can affect any number of transportation vehicles.

Arctic Cat Inc. of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, in conjunction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, has announced a recall of 19,000 Arctic Cat Snowmobiles.  The recall affects the 2012 F, XF, and M model snowmobiles.  Consumers can check each side of the hood for the model name.

The problem concerns the lower steering tie-rod attachment, which can loosen.  This could result in loss of steering control, and as such, it poses a crash hazard.  Interestingly, the same models were recalled in December 2011 due to the possibility of failure in the headlamp fuse, which could result in limited visibility.

Four incidents have been reported, including one in which steering control was completely lost.  However, no injuries have occurred in these reported incidents.

The units were sold at Arctic Cat dealerships across the country between May and December of 2011.  They were priced between $10,500 and $14,500.  Consumers should cease use immediately and contact a dealer for free repairs.

As a car accident attorney in Ventura, I’ve seen my share of vehicle recalls.  Anything with a motor has its own risks, and recalls help to curtail those risks that are deemed inordinately dangerous.  Take it from me, a Ventura personal injury lawyer:  everyone should keep up to date on recall information.

Columbia ParCar Golf Carts Not Up To Par; Recall Announced

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on January 26, 2012

To many, there’s nothing more relaxing than a couple rounds of golf at a local club. That is, unless you lose control of your golf cart and crash.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, along with the Columbia ParCar Corporation of Wisconsin, has announced a recall of certain 2009, 2010, and 2011 Columbia ParCar golf carts, low speed service and utility vehicles. They were sold by ParCar dealers between July 1, 2008 and July 31, 2011 and ranged in price from $5,000 to $12,000. For the affected VIN numbers and specific units, please see the CPSC’s website. About 1,400 of the vehicles are affected.

The problem involves the proclivity of the lower steering yoke to become loose where it connects with the steering rack and pinion. If this happens, control can be lost and the vehicle may crash. If your vehicle is affected, you can bring it to a local ParCar dealer for a free inspection and maintenance.

As a San Francisco personal injury lawyer, I find it unfortunate that this product is experiencing these problems, but hopefully the recall information can filter out before any consumer is negatively affected. As a personal injury lawyer in San Francisco, I would hate to see someone hurt while engaging in a seemingly low-risk activity.

Recall: Daimler Trucks Due to Crash Hazard

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on January 18, 2012

According to news sources, a recall has been issued for about 60 units of 2012 Freightliner Daimler Trucks with custom chassis (FCC) model S2 10 CH due to a crash hazard arising from a malfunctioning exterior light turn signal, which may fail to operate properly 5 to 13 minutes after vehicle operation.

The recall was announced due to a bulk-head software issue affecting the light turn signal that causes the lights to fail after minutes of vehicle operation.  The failure of the turn signal light to illuminate may misinform or confuse other drivers on the roadway as to what the intended direction of the vehicle is, thereby increasing the risk of collision. The recall number associated with this specific vehicle recall is FL-620.

Vehicle owners can expect to be contacted by the company and instructed to take the vehicle to a DTNA authorized service facility, where they will receive a free inspection and software update if necessary.

As a Long Beach personal injury lawyer, I appreciate all efforts made to ensure higher safety standards to protect motorists and pedestrians. I hope this information can help raise awareness about this recalled product and keep consumers safe. If you or a loved one has been injured through the use or consumption of a defective product, speak with a personal injury attorney Long Beach to learn about the legal options available to you.

Corvette Coupes Recalled For Faulty Rear Hinges

General Motors Co has issued a recall of their Chevrolet Corvette Coupes due to a potential compliance failure with federal safety standards, according to recent news reports.

The concern is with the rear hinges of about 6,000 Chevrolet Corvette Coupes. The current situation could allow the rear hatch to disengage from the rest of the car in the event of a crash, according to General Motors.

The model years subject to the recall are the 2011 to 2012 vehicles. Most of them were sold in the United States, and some were sold in Canada.

General Motors Co has reported that the issue was discovered during testing. No complaints have been made by customers thus far, and no injuries or crashes have been reported in relation to the cause of this recall.

General Motors will notify owners and will arrange for dealers to make a replacement at no cost to the consumer.
