The Under Armour made UA Defender Chin Straps are being recalled according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The Baltimore-based company noticed that the chin straps were manufactured containing sharp pieces of metal that may pose as a cut hazard to players.
According to the announcement from the CPSC, the company has received at least 6 reports of injuries that unfortunately required stitches. There are more than 500,000 UA Defender Chin Straps that are being recalled, they are available in four different color schemes and all of them have the hard nylon shell, a plastic strap where one can read “Under Armour” and a padded chin area. Metal clasps are also part of the gear and they tighten the straps and keep them attached to the helmet.
