Harley Davidson has issued a recall for their Touring, CVO Touring and Trike Motorcycles from the 2009-2012 model year due to rear-brake light issues, according to recent news sources.
About 250,757 products are affected by this recall. The rear brake light switch is located in a place that may be exposed to a lot of heat from the exhaust system. Mercedes Benz has announced a recall of some of their vehicles after reports that a fuel filter may have leaking issues, according to recent news reports.
Approximately 6,872 of the cars are subject to recall. Among them are the E-, GL-, ML- and R-Classes of the 2011 model year. The 2012 model year S-Class is also subject to recall.
The problem is with the diesel fuel filter, which may leak around the heading component. This increases the risk of a fire. It also poses a threat if it were to spill on the highway, creating a higher risk for a crash.
Mercedes Benz will begin contacting consumers in November. The defective diesel fuel filter will be replaced free of charge, after inspection at a dealership. Those who seek additional information can contact the car company or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

If you or someone you care about has been injured in a car accident at the fault of another party, I recommend contacting a product defect lawyer as soon as possible in order to discuss your legal options.
Tow package wiring harnesses are being recalled by Curt Manufacturing due to a fire hazard, according to recent news sources.
The harnesses pose a problem because some let moisture into the converter module, defeating the internal circuit protection. This can lead to overheating, which is when fire becomes a threat.
The harnesses are used in 2009, 2010, and 2011 Hyundai Veracruz and Kia Sorento cars. They connect tow lighting circuits to trailer lighting circuits. The affected products have part number 56024.
About 2,400 tow package wiring harnesses are subject to this recall. The company will provide replacements for the defective part free of charge.

It was discovered that the engine block could malfunction because of debris, causing connecting rod bearing failure. This could cause the engine to seize, which causes danger for a driver on the road, as well as the drivers surrounding him or her.
The vehicles subject to recall all contain a 3.6L engine. Models affected include the following:
- Chrysler 200
- Chrysler Town and Country
- Dodge Charger
- Dodge Durango

The vehicles were manufactured from August 31, 2011 to September 13, 2011.

Honda Odyssey minivans are under investigation after seven complaints that the rear liftgate closed unexpectedly, according to recent news reports.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Office of Defects will inspect the 2009 model year of the Odyssey Touring and EX-L models.
Complaints describe the liftgate struts, filled with gas, were not able to support the powered rear liftgate while it was open.
Out of the seven separate complaints, two reported injuries of owners being hit by the liftgate as it closed.
No complaints have been made in regards to the liftgate on the very similar 2008 and 2010 Honda Odyssey vehicles, which are equipped with the same structure.

BMW has filed a report with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to recall their all-wheel-drive 328i and 335i sport sedans due to a problem with their front driveshaft bolts that could contribute to the likelihood of a crash, according to news sources.
The vehicle affected by the recall is a small number of the 2011 model year. Approximately 190 vehicles will be included, manufactured from February 8 to July 29, 2011.
In the report to the NHTSA, the car manufacturer said loose bolts were found on some cars before they left the plant for the dealership. It seems that bolts were not tightened as they should have been during vehicle production.
If these loose bolts were to loosen more while the car is in operation, noise or vibration would be noticeable from the front end. If unaddressed, the driveshaft may detach from the wheels, causing a breakdown and increasing the risk of an accident.
Consumers will receive a free replacement of the bolts. BMW will begin notifying consumers next month.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has stepped up an investigation involving the Chrysler Jeep Liberty after receiving more reports of rear lower control arm failures, according to news sources.
The investigation began last April and the NHTSA has received 13 total complaints about the defective lower control arm. Three of the drivers reported losing control of the vehicle, but no crashes occurred as a result. The agency is examining vehicles from the 2002-2005 model years. About 370,000 Jeeps are involved in the investigation.
All of the complaints were in regards to models from the 2004-2005 years in states that have extreme weather that requires road salt, according to the NHTSA. After Chrysler reported they made changes in 2004 to the rear suspension, the NHTSA has refocused their investigation on the 2004-2005 model years.
As a product liability lawyer in Los Angeles, I’m glad to hear that the government is investigating this issue and I hope they come to conclusions before anyone is injured. If you have ever been involved in a crash as a result of a faulty car part, I recommend you contact a personal injury lawyer to help you proceed with your case. Remember, the law limits the amount of time you can file a claim, so contact a product defect lawyer as soon as possible.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced an investigation of Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans after reports that several tire jacks had collapsed, posing a safety hazard, according to news reports.
About 206,000 total vehicles are involved in the investigation from the 2004-2005 model years. The NHTSA has received five total complaints from consumers about the jacks and one account from Ford itself about the jacks. Three injuries occurred and one man died when the minivan fell onto a man working beneath it.
After investigating the jacks, the NHTSA reported that the problem seems to be with the slotted hinge joints separating under the pressure of the weight of the vehicle.
Ford has announced that they intend to fully cooperate with the government agency as they investigate the issue, including the reported fatality.
As a Los Angeles wrongful death attorney, I am very sorry to hear of a fatality that was caused by a defective product. Even with all of the regulations that are imposed upon products, mistakes can still be made and often the consumer is the victim of such mistakes. If you or someone you know has been injured by a faulty car product, I recommend you contact a product defect lawyer as soon as possible to help you with your case. You many be entitled to compensation for the pain and suffering you have experienced.
