Ready Pac Foods Issues a Recall For Salad Cases, E. Coli Contamination Risk

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on November 17, 2011

Many news outlets have announced that the Ready Pac Foods, Inc. from Irwindale, CA is recalling over 5,300 cases of salads. These items contain Romaine lettuce that might present a health risk to consumers. According to the announcements from the FDA, the recalled item may be contaminated with E. coli.

The bacteria E. coli may cause diarrheal illnesses and may pose highly risky threats for those with a weak immune system.

According to medical reports, healthy adults can recover from this contamination within a week, but some people can develop a kidney failure disease called Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome when they consume a product infected with E. coli. This kidney condition can cause severe damage to the individual’s health.

The recalled items were allegedly sold to Oregon, California, Texas, Hawaii, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho and Washington.

The reports have showed that no other products from this manufacturer were recalled and no illnesses have been claimed to be the result of the consumption of the contaminated boxes of salad.

As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer I urge all consumers to stop using the products that have been recalled. Always stay alert when it comes to food recalls, you might be consuming something that is contaminated. Personal injury lawyers should always be ready to assist anyone who has been the victim of a contaminated item, the faster the victim contacts a lawyer the better.

Ground Beef recalled due to E. coli Scare

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on November 4, 2011

According to the reports from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, there was a recall issued for about 131,300 pounds of ground beef due a possible contamination. News sources say that because a family in Ohio fell ill after ingesting meat contaminated with E. coli., the recall was made necessary. The products listed as unsuitable for consumption include Kroger, Butcher’s and other generic beef items from the Company based on South Dakota.

The reports have stated that consumers that still have these products stored in their freezers should return them right away or discard it. The bacteria E. coli is one of the main causes of food poisoning in humans and in some cases, the health issues may be severe.

As a Los Angeles product liability lawyer I urge you to check your freezer for any products with the codes  D-0211 QW,  D-0211 LWIF and D-0211 LWI and if you do, contact the company so you can get informed about how to dispose of it properly.

If you ever get involved in a situation where your health was threatened by a contaminated product, don’t hesitate in contacting a personal injury lawyer right away. Speedy actions can help you to be successful in your case.

E. Coli Contamination Prompts Ground Beef Recall

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on September 28, 2011

A possible E. coli contamination has prompted a recall of ground beef produced by Tyson Fresh Meats Inc., according to recent news sources.

About 131,300 pound of meat are affected by this recall. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, they were notified after being contact by the Ohio Department of Health regarding E. coli illnesses in Butler County, with sicknesses starting from September 8 through September 11.

Ground beef collected from a home on September 19 tested positive for the bacteria.

The products subject to recall include Kroger-brand ground beef with a product code D-0211 QW; Butcher’s Brand beef with a product code D-0211 LWIF; as well as a generic label beef with a product code D-0211 LWI. The products all come with a best before or freeze by date of September 12.

Tyson believes that most of the affected beef may have already been consumed. They are instructing consumers to check for the meat, and to discard or return it to their store of purchase if they find it.

As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, I have seen food recalls like this one and know that, with as much testing goes into food products before manufacturers send them to market, mistakes can still be made. Although the product defect lawyer at our law firm does not handle these type of cases there are food recall lawyers out there that can help your or a loved one if you have been affected by a recall such as this one.

E. coli Scare Prompts Recall of 40,000 lbs of Ground Beef

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on September 26, 2011

E. coli fears have prompted a recall of over 40,000 pounds of ground beef in Texas, according to recent news reports.

The beef was distributed by Palo Duro Meat in Georgia for the National School Lunch Program in district schools.

The sample tested positive for E. coli o157:H7, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Services. They have attributed the shipment of the tainted meat to a “sample tracking error” when a batch of meat that was in question was accidentally shipped.

E.coli, especially this strain, is dangerous to everyone, but particularly the elderly, young children, and those with compromised immune systems.

According to the Food Safety and Inspection Services, all meat should be cooked to 160 degrees Fahrenheit to kill bacteria. They recommend using a food thermometer.

As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, consumer safety and keeping people informed of potential dangers of hazardous products is a big priority for me. Our product liability lawyers hope that no one has been sickened by eating this recalled food. Please come back to our blog regularly so that you are informed about new dangerous consumer recalls.
