Over 100,000 Suzuki Swifts Recalled Due To Fuel Leak

Another staggering vehicle recall has been announced by an automaker.

In this case, the vehicle in question is the Swift, and the recall was announced by Japan-based Suzuki Motor.  Around 109,000 of the subcompact cars fall under the purview of the recall, which was initiated due to a fuel leakage issue.  Of the recalled vehicles, just over half reside in Japan, with the rest having been exported to Mexico, Australia, and various countries throughout Europe.

The problem has to do with the rubber fuel filler hose.  Due to a defect, this component can actually leak fuel, posing a hazard to consumers.  Four instances of this event have transpired in Japan, but none of those incidents reportedly caused an accident of any kind.  No other countries have reported the issue as having taken place at this time.

The vehicles being recalled were all manufactured between September 2010 and April 2012.  This recall follows a previous March recall wherein Suzuki announced that 93,000 Swift vehicles had the defect and would need to be brought in to receive repairs.

Even though this recall affects countries far removed from a Bakersfield car accident lawyer like me, I still find it important to keep up with the latest recall information from across the world.  In my years as a personal injury attorney in Bakersfield, I’ve quickly learned that regional recalls can be expanded to include vehicles available in other countries, which is why I make it my duty to be on the ball with the latest happenings from all over the globe.

Fuel Leakage Issue Prompts Recall of Husqvarna Grass Trimmer

It seems like everyday there’s a new product recall that affects thousands of people across the country, and today is no different.

Husqvarna Professional Products, a company based out of North Carolina, has announced a recall of 19,500 grass trimmers and an additional 6,500 hedge trimmers.

Manufactured in China, the items were available at a number of Husqvarna retailers across the country, including Sears and Lowes, between May 2011 and January of this year.  They retailed anywhere from $150 to $320.

The safety issue has to do with a rubber spacer on the device.  This component is supposed to secure the fuel lines inside the fuel tank.  However, a leak can spring from the rubber spacer, which would create a fire hazard.  There have already been seven reports of leakage, although thankfully, no injuries appear to have occurred in conjunction with this defect.

Consumers are being advised to cease usage of the hedge and grass trimmers at once.  They can bring the trimmers back from the dealer that it was purchased from, at which point the item will be repaired for no charge.

As a personal injury attorney in Los Angeles, I’m sad to see yet another product get recalled because of a defect.  Trimmers like this could be dangerous if not used properly anyway, so it’s disheartening to see a flaw create an additional hazard.  I hope as a Bakersfield personal injury lawyer that no one gets hurt because of this item.

Mercedes-Benz Annnouces Recall After Discovery of Fuel Filter Leak

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on October 14, 2011

Mercedes Benz has announced a recall of some of their vehicles after reports that a fuel filter may have leaking issues, according to recent news reports.

Approximately 6,872 of the cars are subject to recall. Among them are the E-, GL-, ML- and R-Classes of the 2011 model year. The 2012 model year S-Class is also subject to recall.

The problem is with the diesel fuel filter, which may leak around the heading component. This increases the risk of a fire. It also poses a threat if it were to spill on the highway, creating a higher risk for a crash.

Mercedes Benz will begin contacting consumers in November. The defective diesel fuel filter will be replaced free of charge, after inspection at a dealership. Those who seek additional information can contact the car company or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

As a Los Angeles car accident lawyer, I know how dangerous the roads can be, especially when a vehicle has a defect that endangers not only the driver of the defective vehicle, but also everyone else on the roadway. If you or someone you care about has been injured in a car accident at the fault of another party, I recommend contacting a product defect lawyer as soon as possible in order to discuss your legal options.
