Recall Issued For 2012 Cadillac CTS, Brake-related Issues Discovered

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on November 11, 2011

According to recent news and reports from the company announcing the alert, General Motors Co. has issued a recall for 2012 Cadillac CTS models due to parts that might pose a threat for drivers since it prevents the vehicle from braking properly.

Inspectors have discovered that the power vacuum brake boost pushrod retention nut in some of the vehicles was not properly installed. Reports claimed that the lack of proper mending may result in severe accidents since the driver may be left riding in a vehicle without a brake.

So far, news sources state that there were no reports of injuries or severe accidents related to the Cadillac CTS mechanical problem. According to the official announcement from GM, owners and dealers alike have received word from the manufacturer regarding the recall on Nov. 1st.

The recalled model is banned from being sold until all vehicles can be inspected and fixed properly.

As a Los Angeles auto accident lawyer I hope that no accident will occur with the owners of the 2012 Cadillac CTS vehicles.  Product defect lawyers can always be of great assistance when doubts related to an injury resulted from a malfunctioning product has desolated you or a loved one. Don’t hesitate in contacting an attorney in your area.

Baby Strollers Recalled, Company Offers Replacement Components

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on October 31, 2011

According to various news sources a recall from the manufacturer of baby strollers Bugaboo was issued regarding their Bugaboo Bee item. The company has explained in their website that there have been alleged complaints regarding the front wheels. Whenever they swivel they tend to stick, which may eventually lead to a tipping issue. This happened after the company switched from the metal made wheels to the plastic ones.

The website also claims that since the safety of this product represents a liability to baby-stroller users, they are stopping the manufacturing and shipping of the questionable stroller.

The company has stated that a replacement set is being shipped to all consumers registered with them. All of those who have purchased any of their recalled products originated between January 2011 and September 2011 should be registered in their website, if not, they must do so immediately.

As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer I understand that it’s important to keep the general public aware of the news regarding potential dangers of products we use on a daily basis. Product liability attorneys should be contacted right away if you or a loved one is the victim of damage or health issues related to consumer products.

Hand Trucks Cause Multiple Injuries, Recalled

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on October 27, 2011

Hand trucks made by Harper Trucks Inc. have been recalled in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission due to an injury hazard, according to recent news sources.

About 292,000 products are subject to recall. The hand trucks were sold at Home Depot from September 2008 to March 2009, as well as at Sam’s Club from early 1993 to 2002. They retailed for between $28 and $42.

The injury hazard comes into play when the tires are overinflated. This causes the wheel to break, which causes the pieces of the hub to fly out haphazardly. The manufacturer has received 19 reports of this occurrence, resulting in 19 injuries, including loss of vision, contusions, lacertaions, and broken bones.

The product should not be used. Consumers can contact Harper Trucks in order to receive a repair kit free of charge. Included in the kit are either lock washers, new wheel, or new tires, depending on the model number.

The Los Angeles personal injury attorney at our law firm believes consumer safety should be the number one priority of manufacturers. We know that even with all of the rules and regulations imposed upon product manufacturers, things can still go wrong and sometimes companies even put profit before safety. If you or a loved one has been affected by a dangerous or defective product please do not hesitate to call a product defect lawyer right away. The longer you wait the more chance you have of losing evidence for your potential product liability case.

The Nuts were sold in the Bulk Foods department in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virgina Wegmans Stores. The pine nuts sold between July 1, 2011 and October 18, 2011.

The symptoms will begin 12 to 72 hours after the contaminated food is consumed.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is conducted the recall after investigating a Salmonella outbreak in several states.

As a Los Angeles personal injury attorney, consumer health is something that I am very conscious of and I know that even with tough rules and regulations on manufacturers mistakes can still be made. I encourage anyone who is experiencing the symptoms of food poisoning to seek immediate medical attention. The product defect lawyer at our law firm sincerely hopes that no one has been sickened by consuming the recalled product.

Unprescribed Fashion Lenses Can Permanently Damage Vision

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on October 25, 2011

Fashion contact lenses, which can be a cheap and fun way to jazz up a costume or your everyday look, can also cost you a pretty penny when it comes to medical expenses, according to recent news sources.

Before you buy decorative lenses to change your look, this Halloween or otherwise, consider these warnings from the Food and Drug Administration:

-Contact lenses are not cosmetics and cannot be purchased over the counter, regardless of whether or not they correct vision. Places that sell them as such are breaking the law.

-Poorly fit contact lenses can seriously damage your eyes. An eye doctor should measure your eyes to determine a good fit for you. Side effects of a poorly fit contact lense include corneal infection, cornea scratches, pink eye, and even blindness.

You should also make sure to clean your decorative lenses as you would corrective lenses.

The FDA warns against buying lenses from the following places:

  • street vendors
  • salons or beauty supply stores
  • boutiques
  • flea markets
  • novelty stores
  • Halloween stores
  • record or video stores
  • convenience stores
  • beach shops

As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, I hope that you will heed these warnings from health professionals. Cosmetic products not approved by the FDA can be dangerous and life-threatening. If you or someone you care about has been injured by a cosmetic product, contact a product defect lawyer as soon as possible.

Child Safety Seats Expire, Should Be Replaced

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on October 24, 2011

Parents who have multiple children know how expensive kids’ products can be, so often they try to cut costs when it comes to buying new things for their children. While this may be a good idea when it comes to some things, car seats are definitely something that should be purchased new in most cases, hefty though the price tag may be.

Child safety seats come with an expiration date that many parents don’t know about, according to recent news sources. Different brands vary on the expiration date. The expiration date can be found in the manual of the car seat, or on the seat itself.

According to safety experts, car seats have a shelf life for a reason. The shell of the seat car wear out, or the harness strap can become frayed. The seat may also have been recalled without the knowledge of the parent.

Most counties offer a free inspection of your child’s safety seat. As a product defect lawyer, I recommend that parents buy a new seat and register it with the company they bought it from, as they can be sure to be notified of a recall if one happens. If you or someone you love has been injured by a defective product, I recommend contacting a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer as soon as possible.

Organic eggs distributed by Larry Schultz Organic Farm of Owatonna are being recalled due to a positive test for Salmonella Enteritidis, , according to recent news sources.

Two other states outside of Minnesota affected were Wisconsin and Michigan. The eggs were sold under the brand names Lunds & Byerly’s Organic, Kowalski’s Organic, and Larry Schultz Organic Farm.

Consumers who are in possession of the eggs can return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, I have seen food recalls like this one and know that, with as much testing goes into food products before manufacturers send them to market, mistakes can and will still be made. Although the product defect lawyer at our law firm does not handle these type of cases there are food recall lawyers out there that can help you or a loved one if you have been affected by a recall such as this one. I hope no one else will be sickened by the contaminated eggs.

Common symptoms in healthy individuals include headache, nausea, stiffness, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and high fever. Listeria infection may cause miscarriage or stillbirth in pregnant women.
