Salmonella Contamination Prompts Pine Nut Recall in 5 States

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on October 26, 2011

Turkish Pine Nuts sold by Wegmans Food Markets, Inc., have been recalled due to a potential Salmonella contamination, according to recent news reports.

The Nuts were sold in the Bulk Foods department in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virgina Wegmans Stores. The pine nuts sold between July 1, 2011 and October 18, 2011.

The specific strain is Salmonella Enteritidis. Salmonella is a bacteria which can cause life-threatening illness in some people. Especially at risk are young children, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems. Symptoms of healthy people include diarrhea, fever, nausea, and vomiting. Salmonella can sometimes access the bloodstreams and cause serious conditions like infected aneurysms, encarditis and arthritis. The symptoms will begin 12 to 72 hours after the contaminated food is consumed.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is conducted the recall after investigating a Salmonella outbreak in several states.

If you are in possession of this product, discard the pine nuts and contact Wegmans for a refund.

As a Los Angeles personal injury attorney, consumer health is something that I am very conscious of and I know that even with tough rules and regulations on manufacturers mistakes can still be made. I encourage anyone who is experiencing the symptoms of food poisoning to seek immediate medical attention. The product defect lawyer at our law firm sincerely hopes that no one has been sickened by consuming the recalled product.

Organic Eggs Recalled Due to Salmonella Threat

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on October 24, 2011

Organic eggs distributed by Larry Schultz Organic Farm of Owatonna are being recalled due to a positive test for Salmonella Enteritidis, , according to recent news sources.

Six illnesses are being investigated by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and the Minnesota Department of Health in relation to the egg recall. The people sickened were affected from August 12 to September 24. All have recovered, though three were hospitalized.

Two other states outside of Minnesota affected were Wisconsin and Michigan. The eggs were sold under the brand names Lunds & Byerly’s Organic, Kowalski’s Organic, and Larry Schultz Organic Farm.

Consumers who are in possession of the eggs can return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, I have seen food recalls like this one and know that, with as much testing goes into food products before manufacturers send them to market, mistakes can and will still be made. Although the product defect lawyer at our law firm does not handle these type of cases there are food recall lawyers out there that can help you or a loved one if you have been affected by a recall such as this one. I hope no one else will be sickened by the contaminated eggs.
