Johnson & Johnson has announced a recall of more than 2,000 tubes of Aveeno Baby Calming Comfort Lotion. The affected lot has the number 0161LK and was sold at retail stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas.
The recall is a result of Food and Drug Administration testing which revealed that the lotion was contaminated with high levels of bacteria known as coagulase-negative Staphylococci. This, according to the press release issued by Johnson & Johnson, is a common bacteria found on the skin of both babies and adults and in various household products at low levels.
No illnesses or injuries have been reported as yet, nor have the amounts discovered been disclosed. Retailers have been asked to stop selling the item, and consumers can call the company for a refund.
Earlier I reported to you a recall of an infant car seat, as I felt it was my duty as a San Francisco car accident attorney. Similarly, a recall of a product such as the one described above needs to be delivered to the general public so that our children can be safe and sound. As a personal injury lawyer in San Francisco, I find that safety is paramount when it comes to buying products for children, and if those standards aren’t met, something must be done.
