Natural Peanut Butter Chunky Jars Recalled Due to Salmonella Contamination

By Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer on November 17, 2011

Many news sources have reported that the J.M. Smucker Company has announced a recall for two types of Smucker’s® Natural Peanut Butter Chunky products because of the possibility it may be contaminated with Salmonella. This bacteria may cause severe damage to individuals who have weakened immune systems and certain cases can turn out to be deadly.

The two specific packages of peanut butter to be recalled have the production codes 1307004 and 1308004 printed on the side of the product’s labels. According to the articles, the possibly contaminated product was distributed to Michigan, Maine, Maryland, Kentucky, Kansas, Colorado, Arkansas, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas, South Dakota, Virginia, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia.

The jars of contaminated product weigh 16 oz. and have August 3, 2012 and August 4, 2012 as best-if-used-by dates printed on the labels. For more information on Salmonella and symptoms related to the disease, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s website right away.

As a Los Angeles wrongful death attorney, I hope that nobody will get fatally ill from consuming this recalled product. Hopefully the company along with the FDA will act fast enough so all infected items may be returned. Personal injury lawyers are unfortunately familiar with cases related to this type of contamination and can gladly help you with your case.
