K Heeps Inc. of Allentown, Pennsylvania, has issued a recall for their pureed pork product that may contain metal fragments, according to news sources.
About 5,550 pounds are subject to recall, according to the U.S. Depart of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. The product comes in 4.5 pound boxes and is called Imperial Sysco Puree Shaped Meats Country Style Pork and Binder Product. EST 9379 is branded inside the inspection mark. The product was distributed on June 16 to institutions in Pennsylvania, California, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio, Texas, Utah and Virginia.
Two consumers have reported finding the foreign metal material in their products. It is believed that the metal is from blending equipment. No injuries have been reported.
