According to news sources, about 16,000 units of Can-am ATV’s have been recalled due to the Dynamic Power Steering (DPS) main shaft potentially cracking, which can result in the loss of control and lead to injury or death.
The company, BRP US Inc., have announced the recall after it was found that the DPS shaft could break, resulting in small pieces that can block steering and thus cause limited steering control. The recalled ATV model years are 2010-2011 and include the Can-Am Outlander and Renegade model ATVs.
The recalled product has a retail price ranging from $6,800 to $13,500.
There have been no injuries reported however there have been two incidents of the DPS breaking and causing limited steering abilities for the operator.
Consumers should stop using the ATVs immediately and contact the company at (888) 638-5397 for an inspection and if necessary, a free repair.
