According to many news outlets, the company Build-A-Bear has issued a recall for exact 19,720 inflatable inner tubes and swimsuit sets for teddy bears. Reports have showed that the plastic tube that is part of the set can be pulled over the child’s small head and end up turning into a strangulation hazard.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission along with the manufacturer claimed that there was one report of an unfortunate incident where a 3-year-old girl tried to remove the tube over her head but allegedly wasn’t able to.
The whole set of swimsuit and the inner tubes were distributed all over the country by Build-A-Bear Workshop stores and were available for consumers between April and August 2011. The same company is also recalling over one thousand swimwear units sold in Canada.
For all consumers who might have purchased this item, the recalled set has the number 017220 located on the price sticker and yellow flowers printed on the pink inner tubes.
