Chocolate chip cookies made by Murray Biscuit Company are being recalled due to an undeclared allergen ingredient, according to recent news sources.
The products subject to recall are the 5.5 ounce packages of Murray Sugar Free Chocolate Chip Cookies. The product contains pecans and they are not listed as an ingredient on the label. The packaging does declare that the product may contain peanuts and tree nuts, but does not list pecans on the warning label.
About 904 cases are being recalled as a precaution, though only 12 have been found to be mislabeled. The product was distributed in four states: Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. It is marked with a code of 8201191335 and has a “use by” date of April 17, 2012.
No illnesses have currently been documented in relation to this recall. Those with pecan allergies should not consume the product, as a life-threatening reaction may occur.
